Before designing the parting plane, it is necessary to determine the shape and position of the parting line on the plastic part. Once the opening direction is determined, it becomes easier to determine the parting line. Because the projection of the parting line on the opening direction coincides with the outer contour line of the plastic part in that direction, a straight line parallel to the opening direction can be moved along the outer contour line of the object's projection, and the intersection situation of this line at each position with the object's surface can be calculated.

(1) If the straight line intersects the object at multiple points and multiple straight line segments, it indicates that the global intersection of the parting line with the opening direction is 0. Therefore, this area should be designed as a core pull-out, and the parting line should be determined according to the shape and size of the core pull-out.

(2) If the straight line intersects the object surface at a single straight line segment, any point on this straight line segment can be taken as the point on the parting line. Generally, the point that is the shortest in the connection line with the adjacent point should be chosen as the parting line point. It can also be determined through an interactive method.

(3) If the straight line intersects the object surface at one point, then that point is the point on the parting line.
